GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION AND CLIMATE
Loviste (from the Bay Bezdija to the bay Duba), in relation to the Peljesac peninsula, has a very slight relief, the mountains don't exceed 200m above sea level and have very gentle slope. Such a geographical location has resulted in very little rain days, but a lot of sunny days per year, so that some experts claim that the Loviste area has up to 3000 hours of sunshine per year, with which even the sunny island of Hvar can be jealous of.
Loviste has a typical Mediterranean climate with dry and hot summers and extremely warm sea, which reaches up to 26 degrees in July and August, winters are mild and humid while the temperature rarely falls below 5 degrees.
FLORA AND FAUNA
Mediterranean flora, shrubbery and macchia and coastal forests of evergreen oak and pine are typical for this part of the world as well as agricultural areas with olive trees. In Loviste aquatorium you will find Posidonia settlements as well as protected shells "Periska ", only found in the clean sea.
Faun vertebrates uses Loviste surroundings as their primary habitat, bats and birds use it as a temporary feeding place and habitat. Over 100 species of birds have been recorded so far in the western part of the Peljesac peninsula, but in different habitats.
Some of the most famous species in this area are: Čagalj (Canis aureus), mongoose (Mungos mungo), gray dormouse (Myoxus glis), hare (Lepus europaeus), wild boar (Sus scrofa), blavor (Pseudopus Apus), blackbird (Turdus merula), green toad (Bufo viridis), Mediterranean gull (Larus audouinii), eagle owl (Bubola BUBO).
