MORESKA

Moreska is the sword dance that was common in the 12th and 13th century in the Mediterranean, it arrived to Korcula from Italy in the 16th century. Moreska is the only sword dance that has been preserved in its original form in the whole Mediterranean.
Dance is performed with swords of thirty dancers, the Red King is fighting for "Bula" (a lovely young girl) that is captured by the army of the Black King. The sequence of dialogue between the two kings and ritual dance with swords leads to the end when the Red King releases his beloved.
Moreska is a great attraction for tourists and it is held every Thursday during the summer months.
Korcula is easily reached, 20min from Loviste to Orebic by car, and then about 10min boat ride to Korcula, a boat leaves for Korcula every half hour.
